In Ghost Colours Hits #1, Out Saturday (AUS)!

CUT /// COPY - IN GHOST COLOURS #1 ALBUM, OUT THIS SATURDAY, MARCH 22 IN AUST

The Cut Copy comet will leave a grand canyon sized impression when it comes hurtling into Earth THIS SATURDAY (AUS). With their new album In Ghost Colours still yet to be officially released, moonjuice jammers Cut Copy have debuted at #1 on the iTunes Digital Album Chart on pre-release sales alone after 1 day. Click HERE for your hit.

In Ghost Colours is Cut Copy’s long-awaited second LP, and what an LP it is. In Ghost Colours traverses genres effortlessly, from already-anthem Hearts On Fire's epic sax-house to the noisy blissout of So Haunted to the disco-harmony of Lights & Music. For Cut Copy the record was an exercise in drawing parallels between favourites old and new and trying to find a meeting point in between - from the vocodered robo-pop of French house to prog's soaring harmonies to the texture of shoegaze, In Ghost Colours lands at some sort of trans-galaxial intersection between these disparate planets.

Having forced tears of glittery joy from every eyeball that has heard it thus far, In Ghost Colours is available for pre-order from JB HI-FI (AUS), FULFILLMENT (INTERNATIONAL) and is available digitally NOW from ITUNES (AUS).

BUMBLEBEEZ vs. GOODHOOD

The Bumblebeez have been lauded for their eclectic ADD kitchen sink approach to music, since the release of their White Printz and Red Printz EP's, to the most recent single, the fanquackingtastic Dr Love. Now, ahead of the release their magnificent technicolour spew of a debut album Prince Umberto & The Sister Of Ill, The Bumblebeez will present the equally important siamese twin companion to the music, the visual side of the band, in an art show at Goodhood in Hoxton, London.

Starting Thursday March 27, the exhibition will present a detailed view at the world behind the music, as seen by Chris Colonna aka Prince Umberto. Art has always been integral in The Bumblebeez approach to music, ever since Chris studied at the Pratt Institute in New York and worked on art projects including sound pieces and installations that involved walking into a darkened room with soft music only to be pummelled by a tennis ball machine and gabba. Chris has created all of the bands artwork to date, including the most recent work for the album, in collaboration with Jonathan Zawada. For the album cover Chris built a series of sculptures around his country town home out of various pieces of audio equipment and machinery, culminating in the speaker stack monolith we now see on the cover.

Notorious B.I.O.P.I.C

This is rapper Jamal Woolard AKA "Gravy" AKA the dude who's gonna be playing Biggie Smalls (R.I.P) in the new biopic, Notorious. Producer credits include B.I.G.'s mother, Voletta Wallace, and his former managers Wayne Barrow and Mark Pitts so it looks like the movie will actually have some cred. On the topic, Barrow says "People wanted to give us a check and do a film that they wanted to do, but Searchlight gave us the opportunity to really be able to come in and tell the story the way it was supposed to be told". Time will tell.

RADIO FABULOUS

Radio Fabulous, 81 Records, Galaxy Records, Rap Records, Awesome Records and Modular present

THE BUMBLEBEEZ
Australian Radio Fabulous Tour

The Bumblebeez live experience has never been a straightforward proposition, probably never will be. When you consider the kind of recorded material that’s being attempted to rework, some of which is live, some of which is programmed, a lot of which is sampled, trust me when I say it’s hours and months of headache and bad dreams.

BUT. There will be energy. So much we might have to have an intermission to calm down. There will be some devilishly wrong interpretive dance, in which the audience is openly encouraged to partake. There will be rap, there will be song, there will be anger and ecstasy. There will be BASS, so much your will ribs rattle and you’ll think of Basstopia (you haven’t been?). There will be enough songs from Prince Umberto & The Sister Of Ill to keep the record company happy. That will include the bog-hop Grammy-nominated sensation Dr Love and the tropical booty-pop of Rio. There will be other peoples music, reworked and rendered unidentifiable but familiar enough you might find your ass shaking and ask why? There will be lights and magic and projected images from inside the mind’s eye.

Prince Umberto, Queen ViLa, DJ Anna Lunoe and Jazz Fingers are currently the Bumblebeez live outfit. In April, they’re coming to a town near you on their first official Australian tour, entitled Radio Fabulous.
